Question: I overdosed by accident this am on Metformin. I took 2000mg instead of 1000mg. What should I do?
Answers:

Stop til tomorrow, I've done it couple of times, drink water, if you have accelerated heart beat difficulty breathing call 911



The maximum daily dosage adivsed by the British National Forumulary is 2g (2000mg), however this is in divided doses.

Phone an out of hours GP service or NHS Direct 0845 4647

In the mean time its porbably best not to take any further metformin for 24 hours. Keep a close eye on your blood sugar. If you begin to feel off, at all unwell or if your blood sugar begins to change abnormally go to A&E or phone for an ambulance.
