Could people die through HIV?!

OMG! I can't believe HIV/AIDS has been discovered for like 25 years or so and all of these answers are incorrect. No one, I repeat, NO ONE has EVER died from AIDS or HIV. YES HIV causes AIDS, but neither cause death. Death is caused typically by pneumonia, which comes from the weakened immune system associated with the lower T-cell count from HIV/AIDS.

I AM A MED STUDENT, no you can not die of HIV/ aid, this disease prevents your body from fighting off opportunistic infections such a tb, pneumonia, the flu, meningitis, and ext by killing your body only defense: white cells. diminishing your t cell count. thereafter, you die from sepsis or overwhelming infections that generally leads to multiple system failure and septic shock.

if HIV is cought early it is not curable but it is treatable. prolonging your life by decades. I been a paramedic for a while and aside from hepatitis, HIV is our primary educational and precaution while at the job.

yes. HIV progresses into aids. and the reason why people die from aids is because their immune system gets so weak that uf they an infection, they will no longer be able to fight it off. so since AIDS is jus like HIV on steroids, if u get a bad enough infection just with HIV, it could kill u. hope this helps.

HIV causes AIDS. I don't think HIV can kill you, but AIDS certainly can. You don't get AIDS without HIV, and people with HIV don't always get AIDS. So it can kill you, but indirectly.

HIV is the virus that causes full blown AIDS so the answer would be yes I think.
