Heartburn since last night, now difficulty swallowing, should I be worried?!

Question: Heartburn since last night, now difficulty swallowing, should I be worried?
Hi, I've recently started suffering with heartburn through the night. I've had it on three occasions recently, twice I'd eaten chilli (very very mild though) and last night I had eaten spag bol (early at 5.30pm). I'm woken with the pain and have to take tablets, which work well.

However, today I'm still suffering. It's not the same burning sensation as I had last night, but I had real difficulty eating my lunch of a sandwich, as it felt as though the food wasn't chewed properly and as though I was swallowing massive lumps. I could really feel each mouthful go down. Since then I've had a mild central chest pain and I still have a sore lump feeling in my throat when I swallow, as well as a little bit of burning. I've taken two indigestion tablets but it's made no difference.

Should I be worried about this, and is there anything else I can do to help it go away?

Many thanks

Sounds like acid reflux, and the central chest pain could be an inflamed oesophagus. I would give up spicy foods for a while and dont eat late. Your doctor will prescibe a long lasting antacid (Zantac is available over the counter) but this should not mean you take the pill then go and eat the foods that upset you...I would try using some aloe vera juice last thing to line your stomach. Sip slowly as it will ease the burn in your throat and stomach.
See your Doc!

I have had a lot of heartburn of late buts its caused with my medicine I take for my cold, it isn't serious just a nuisance and it is indeed caused with spicy food no matter how mild.

do what my brother told me to do when I used to get it a lot that is sip water that indeed works for me ( but if you have it on too many occasions you should See your Dr who will prescribe something else.

You can take Soda Bicarbonate, you can get it in any big supermarket, take half of a teaspoon in 1/4 of glass of water, it will help you get rid of acidity in your stomach... try not to eat anything heavy , only drink... hopefully nothing is serious
I wish you a good health

Dont have a big meal late in the day, avoid spicy food and alcohol and try drinking peppermint tea.

drink some milk it helps a lot
