The first thing would be to make sure the person was getting enough oxygen, and then determine why the person was having trouble breathing in the first place. If it was due to asthma, then that would be treated. If it was due to pneumonia or other disease process, then they'd treat that. The first response would be to make sure there was a clear airway and plenty of oxygen getting to the lungs and body. After that treatment would just depend on the root cause of the problem.

Howdy
Generally when you tell doctors that, they would probably send you to ER, cause it could signal heart problems, but one should never think that is the only problem that could cause that. Maybe reaction to drugs you may be taking. This type of a problem could have many implications, but you should get medical attention as soon as possible! Please!!!

Personal experience.

I went to the ER for shortness of breath and they did nothing.
After a 5 hour wait..they offered to do a chest x-ray and never did it..
plus left me in a dark area on a stretcher with no one around..
I could have died..but thankfully it wasn't THAT serious.

Depends on what's wrong with them. They would likely give them oxygen, figure out which of the 857 things that might be causing their shortness of breath, and then try their best to fix it.

Common sense.

All they did for me was give me a bunch of albuterol (which i whats in my asthma inhaler anyway

breathing treatment and a shot of steriods and maybe some O2
