Could this be Whooping Cough?!

Question: Could this be Whooping Cough?
I've had a dry cough for two months now. It started off as a bad cough, nothing else. I went to the doctor and they did a chest Xray, and it looked fine. but about a week ago, I started getting a runny nose, sneezing, etc. I looked up the symptoms of whooping cough on the internet and I have all of them. If I had whooping cough, would it have shown on the Xray? And is it even possible that I have whooping cough, because when I first got it, it was just a cough? How long will it take to go away (without antibiotics)? Thanks

Answers:

If you have had all of your baby shots which include the pertussis (whooping cough) virus, you do not have whooping cough. This would be a virus more than likely that is causing this and you treat the symptoms with over the counter cough medication, a decongestant and increased fluid intake until your body heals itself. Residual coughs can be present for a long time after any viral respiratory infection.

You didn't mention the most obvious whooping cough symptom, where you continually cough till theres no air left in your lungs and you take a gulp of air after the end. I don't know if adults sound the same as babies, but my cousins baby had it once and he sounded like a barking bulldog. The nurse said it sounds like a barking seal. My son has had several nasty colds where he was hoarse, but once you've heard real whooping cough, it's very easy to recognize because it sounds so different from a regular bad cold.
