Haven't worn earrings in awhile, now I have ear pain?!

Question: Haven't worn earrings in awhile, now I have ear pain?
I got my ear pierced when I was 14, freshman in high school, (i'm 22 now) and I had to constantly take them out for sports practice and then re pierce them myself after practices/games, so I don't think they healed properly. I only wear earrings every once in awhile, and I bought a new pair yesterday after not wearing earrings for about 2 months and now my left ear is sore and kind of red, is there anything I can do to make it feel better or is this just my ears getting used to earrings again? Thanks!!

Answers:

After you get out of the shower take a dab of lotion and gently massage your ear. The problem could be the size of the earring, or it may just be your ears getting used to them.

What happens if you don't wear them for that long... no less than 3 to 6 months, then the backs for sure of the holes will close up and you need them repierced. I know this because I just went to the store to find out how to reopen mine. I am allergic to so many metals that I stopped wearing them but now they have new things so I wanted to try something else again and I was told by two different stores that I needed them repierced or to go to a tatoo parlor and see if they can help me open them back up since they have better equipment for things like that. Most likely you got it infected so get some good alcohol and rinse it out and then put an antibacterial ointment on it for awhile several times a day. If it is still that way see a doctor. Do not wear the earrings until it is heal up and then go to someone to either get them repierced or to the tatoo people to see if they can do it better and when you do keep it really clean all the time just like you did when you first pierced them.
