my mom's 52 and she still gets it occasionally. genetics and how clean you keep your face.
Most people who have acne as adolescents grow out of it. I had moderate acne as a teenager, and it went away once I hit my twenties. (I still get one here and there.) A few people do have it throughout their lives, however. If you have an acne problem that is causing you distress, go see a dermatologist. There are a lot of treatment options.
It can be a life long problem in some people. If you are having trouble go to the dermatologist and they can put you on something that could/should be a life long cure.
