Does the flu shot really work?!

Question: Does the flu shot really work?
Does it actually prevent you from getting the flu?

Answers:

I asked my doctor for a mercury 2 in 1 flu shot that is mercury free and good for the swine flu and flu. He ordered it. We all got the flu even with the shot but not as severely as our neighbors who did not have the shot. So if it is mercury free then I would say talk to your doctor about what options are available and get one.

Yes. The flu shot can protect you against a few strains of flu which are expected to be the most severe or the most common in a particular year. You may still get a strain not included in the shot, but it is likely to be much less severe than a strain you may get if you do not get the shot.

Additional info: Contrary to popular belief, you can not get the flu from the flu shot. Flu shots contain inactive strains of virus. You may get some mild flu like symptoms after getting the shot, but you can not get the flu from the flu shot.

I get a flu shot every year and have not had the flu in over 25 years.

Personal experience

The flu shot contains the models of the most common strains of influenza for the current flu season.

You can still contract a rare active strain that was not covered from another person.

Personally, I have always gotten the flu shot and never got the flu.

I work in an academic environment, I see it every day, students who get the flu shot do not get the flu, those who did not get vaccinated are always sick/missing class.

In my opinion. No. Ive had one flu shot in my life and I got the flu. Haven't had one in years and have not got the flu yet.
