Your sister does NOT have breast cancer.

If a 12 year old had breast cancer her case would make news the world over. It would be written up in medical journals the world over too, as it would be of HUGE interest to the medical profession.

There is nothing you have described that is not normal breast development.

Breast cancer is a disease of ageing; most people who develop it are over 50, and a woman in her 30s or 40s who had it would be considered unusually young. Fewer than 0.1% of those diagnosed with breast cancer are under 30, and it's almost unheard of in under 25s. Under 16, the risk is ZERO.

You and your sister must talk to you mother, who should be able to reassure you.

Also, talk to your school nurse; she will be used to girls worrying about this and will be able to reassure your sister that she does NOT have breast cancer.

have ad breast cancer, and was classed as a 'younger woman' - because I was only 50, which is quite young for breast cancer

At 12 years old she has more of a chance of getting stuck by lightening. This is NOT Breast Cancer, this is her hormones and growing breasts. ALSO The fact that it hurts is in her favor. It is probably just a simple cyst. No there is no other way than to go to the doctor. (And he can put her mind at ease in a matter of 5 seconds) Breast Cancer lumps do not hurt. If it doesn't go away with her next period, than she HAS to go to the doctor.

Talk to a doctor right away. It may not be breast cancer, but if there are lumps they should be taken out. Try talking to your parents about it first. My teachers daughter has lumps when she was 14 and they had to be taken out as well.
