I started suppressive therapy for genital herpes. I'm taking 500 mg of Vala!

Question: I started suppressive therapy for genital herpes. I'm taking 500 mg of Valacyclovir a day.?
I just had another breakout. Do I continue just taking the one pill a day or do I need to up my dosage?

Also, where in Los Angeles are there herpes specialists? I'd like to get more information about what I can or can not eat. Also, my boyfriend tested negative for HSV-2 so I'd also like to talk to someone about what we can or can not do in bed. He's a bit of a hypochondriac so he needs detailed instructions. (which i dont blame him for)

You may want to talk to your doctor before you decide to take a higher dose.
You should avoid having too many foods that lower your immune system like sugary things, alcohol, I have to avoid things like having foods that have sugar oats, chocolate (I'm lactose intolerant so that's no problem), beta carotene and wheat too often or I could trigger a break out. He may have to play around with his diet to see what triggers his break outs and avoid having those foods too often. He can also try boosting his immune system, when the immune system is healthy you can have fewer or milder break outs. If you go to an std clinic then you may be able to get more information.
You can try joining some on like support groups so you don't feel alone.
