How large would a piece of food have to be for it to become stuck in the throat !


Question: How large would a piece of food have to be for it to become stuck in the throat or esophagus?
Also when I swallow, I always get a slight pain in my chest, as if something has got lodged?

You likely are having issue with acid reflux, which is irritating your lower esophageal sphincter. When you swallow food, it is passing over the irritated area, leaving you with a sensation of something lodged until you sooth it with a sip of water.

Talk to your doctor. There are several medications that will reduce the acidity of your stomach, reducing the irritation.



I think the better question is why not just chew your food?
