Gestational diabetes question?!

Question: Gestational diabetes question?
I have 2 children and my Husband and I am working on a third.

With my first pregnancy, everything was actually perfect.I really felt great throughout the whole 9 months.
With the second,I was about 15-20 lbs over the weight that I wanted to be.I will also admit that I ate poorly, snacking on things I should not have been eating(you know how that can add up.)
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.I was able to manage it with diet but still needed a small dose of medication in the morning since once I woke, before I ate,my sugar would be high.

It was awful having that during pregnancy and I have then learned that diabetes runs in my family.
I also have heard that I am more likely to develop diabetes later in life.
With all this said,I am more cautious of what I eat and am exercising as well.
I am trying to be more on the slimmer side like with my first pregnancy weighing 125 lbs.
I gained 15 lbs the first time around and starting at 145 the second time around gaining 16 lbs.
Currently I weigh 135 and am trying to reach my goal of 125.Do you think that if I am exercising and eating healthy and gaining weight at a normal pace during this pregnancy, that I could avoid getting the diabetes this time around?
Did seem strange that with the first I was fine, but with the second I got the diabetes. So I am thinking that this may help to avoid it.What do you think?

for sure the lower your weight going into pregnancy, the better control you will have of it after pregnancy. Weight creeps on all of us!

Yes, you are wise to get weight into alignment with your thoughts before trying to get pregnant. So Remember to start now taking a good one a day vitamin whether the ones for pregnancy or regular ones.

I never could handle the ones with iron, so now that I am silver, I totally take the silver miltivitamin so I don't have to deal with the iron issues.

Lots of exercise now and throughout the pregnancy will help you to deliver easier and have a healthier you on the other side too.

You are right in your thinking!! It might have been the extra weight and then too it might not have been.

It is common for gestational diabetes to occur in later pregnancies. Considering your history, the chance of it recurring in a third pregnancy is very high. Trying to control it with weight control during the pregnancy can negatively affect the development of your child. Please talk to your doctor about how to handle this properly. You will likely need medication again, which will control your blood sugar while allowing your child to thrive. Please talk to your doctor. If you don't have a doctor, go to your community health center. See my source to find one near you.
