Question: How can stress, grief, depression, cause a heart attack?
firstly i have Chronic Anxiety- Generalized Anxiety Disorder,Panic Disorder, Phobias, i thought heart attacks were caused by blockages in the blood vessels or other physical problems. How can you still have a heart attack from emotional feelings? Obviously since i have intense Anxiety i'm always freaking out thinking i'm gonna die, i've had EKG's Chest x-rays Blood Drawn etc. they all came out fine i'm 23 mental illness runs in my family also.

Like i never understood people saying " oh my gosh you scared me trying to give me a heart attack? " Like someone creeps up behind you, you freak out and Bam have a heart attack ? i dont get it

In people who have preexisting Coronary Artery Disease, all the things you mentioned can most certainly push them over the edge into a full blown Myocardial Infarction. The list you gave can result in elevated blood pressure, requiring the heart to pump harder. Also, this extra work can be enough to result in either arrhythmia's or arterial spasm and death. The saying of "you almost gave me a heart attack" simply means "you scared me!" I hope you find a way to deal with the awful anxiety from which you suffer. It can rob you of having normal pleasure and progress in your life. At some point, you must accept that as much as you hate being anxious, you have to live every day anyway. There is no magic pill that will make it all go away. Some medications might help to a degree, but you are probably stuck with whatever symptoms are left. Anxiety can be debilitating if you let it master you. All the best.
