Hi what u describe if not ingrowing hair could be sebaceous cysts they are closed sacs occurring just under the skin which contains a hard jelly looking substance. A foul odour is often present in the substance called keratin which fills sebaceous cysts. Keratin is a protein that creates the sac of cells called sebaceous cysts. The nodes or lumps you can feel under your skin are actually the sac of cells. With time these do go away especially if you keep the area clean.

Sounds like you may have an ingrown hair- can be painful to the touch, usually goes away in a short period of time, or you can have your boyfriend take it out with some tweezers then kiss it to make it better.(Just a suggestion)

He told you he had them under his balls? If its got a top like a calliflower its genital warts.

You might want it to get check out. It could possibly be a strand of the HPV virus
