Question: Is this a possible way to get sick?
I'm writing a story and this was going to be one of the dilemmas but i wanted to know if this was probable?

Maria, there are some possibilities, most of which involve the heart and major arteries, but are not cancer. For example, a common one in middle-aged to older adults is a ruptured, bulging aortic artery in the abdomen or in the chest that could cause rapid hemorrhage and death from internal bleeding if not rapidly replaced with a graft. Another is a heart attack (myocardial infarct) which is massive and destroys such a large area of the heart wall that only an organ replacement could save the patient. Sometimes a sudden viral infection of the heart (myocarditis) can interfere with the electrical conduction system of the heart and require immediate correction by an added pacemaker or heart. Many patients develop severe liver damage (cirrhosis) from an infection with the hepatitis C virus that a liver transplant is essential to maintain life. I hope this info helps.
