I've had diabetes since I was only 6 years old. I've had to inject myself with insulin daily just to keep my diabetes in check. Well, now that I'm older, I know much about the situation and just how important it is. There is so much info out there about diabetes, but nothing has helped me as much as this forum that I am part of. Hearing real life stories and situations is much more helpful than just "This is what diabetes is". I recommend that you join if you really want to get to know the disorder. Kaiser has a diabetes class. If he does not belong to kaiser I would check with your grandmothers doctor to see if their is a class you can attend on how to help your grandma. Go with her to her doctor appointments maybe? See if you can be a support to her.

I understand that this is type 2 diabetes and can be easily controlled by diet and moderate exercises
