Herpes Zoster is commonly known as shingles. Herpes Zoster is usually a relapse of Chicken Pox surfacing after many years lying dormant in the ganglia, due to certain triggers. Herpes Simplex as well as Herpes Zoster are usually known by their locations :
Herpes Simplex:
1. Herpes Facialis- Usually crops from the gastrointestinal disorders.
2. Herpes Genitalis - frequently originates from history of venereal diseases.
Herpes Zoster:
1. Herpes Zoster Dorsopectoralis (Dorsopectoralis has two varieties of adult and children)
2. Herpes Zoster Cervicalis
All are curable in homeopathy.

Shingles is the result of having had chicken pox or the herpes zooster virus. Once you have chicken pox you are immune but the virus lies in the nerve roots. When something triggers the virus it can travel to the nerve endings and cause a case of shingles which can happen multiple times but to answer the question shingles does come from a branch of the herpes family.

It can only occur if the Chicken Pox virus reoccurs. I had shingles when i was 7. Most people will get it due to being nervous or lots of stress. It is a form of the Herpes Zoster Virus but is not an STD.

personal experience, and personal medical knowledge

Errr...no. It's a second strain of chicken pocks except in only one place and I think its more dangerous than normal chicken pocks. It's often caused by stressed. I had shingles under my arm once.
