Can i be tested for HIV and STD's if I am 16?!

Question: Can i be tested for HIV and STD's if I am 16?
I want to get tested without leading my parents know about it. Can I get tested secretly if I am 16??????
Where should I go?
Does it cost Money ??
Will they tell my parents?

Answers:

Go to your nearest Planned Parenthood. They give out free testing to teenagers and don't tell parents. You may want to do a search on your area's laws about the youngest age teens can get testing without a parent (it's around 15-16 in most areas). If you don't have a Planned Parenthood, go to a walk-in clinic and be sure to ask about the privacy policy. Many times clinics will do the testing right there, but if they are especially busy they may have you set up an appointment.(STD)

Go to your local Planned Parenthood or Dept. of Health office. The testing is confidential. Your results can't be released to anyone (even your parents or your doctor's office) without your written consent. If you test positive, the Dept. of Health has to be notified, and they can help you get treatment.(HIV)

Planned parenthood might. I'm not sure though since I do not agree how that organization gets their money. The doctor will tell you the results but if you are positive you have to tell your parents since you require treatment. The test at a regular doctors office is around 115 dollars. That is just for hiv though.

edit
The health department does not help with std treatments. You have to buy it on your own. For people receiving some type of aid then yes they can get 'help' paying for treatment but no treatment is free. If your parents have insurance then they have to pay for it. You don't count when it comes to getting aid from the government.

edit
Febray you realize that is extremely illegal to lie like that. She could get into some serious trouble for that.

Yes, you can get tested. You can check the website hivtest.org to find free testing sites in your area. Just enter your ZIP code. Some places may have a sliding fee scale, based on your income. Testing is confidential. No one, including your parents, can be told about your testing without your permission.

I do HIV education and testing.

don't worry even If you were under age. go to any hospital or clinic ask for HIV or STD diagnoses. It will cost you $100 or even more. yes you can get secretly tested no one will know! you can even put a fake name! some hospitals don't ask for ID. don't give your real name, because if you were diagnosed with HIV you might get reported! and you parents will immediately know. don't worry I don't think you will be having HIV unless if you slept with a whore

In the Source(s) section, I will give you a link to a website that talks about Minors' legal rights to take HIV and all other STD tests and whether parents have to be involved. If I'm understanding it correctly, no they don't in a lot of cases.. But like the first person who replied said, they're going to likely find out anyway if you're positive since you'll be getting treatment.

As for costs, I can't really tell you. If you live in the US, most States or even your County have programs to help people afford their health care needs. I'm sure even as a minor you can get the help you need (possibly without involving your parents). If you have an actual physical phone book (not an online phone book lol) look in the "blue" pages which are Government listings for your local County Health Department phone number and they can tell you how to get to a free clinic in your area, if you have one.

Good luck.

If you are in the United States you can go to Planned Parenthood or any hospital clinic and they will do it free and NO they CANT by law tell your parents. So now you know where you can go that it is free and they cant tell your parents. I hope I helped. Good luck.

Google free std clinics in your area.
