Anyone with diabetes - do these sound like diabetes symptoms?!

Question: Anyone with diabetes - do these sound like diabetes symptoms?
I am seeing a doctor tomorrow but would like any input from people with diabetes who may have experienced similar when first diagnosed.
* Urinating a lot during the night
* CRAZY cravings for soft drinks, chocolate, sweets (not kidding, I could drink 2 litres of soft drink a day easily but have forced myself onto water)
* EXTREME fatigue - I sleep 10+ hours a night plus at least 2 hours each day
* I am not classed as overweight, but have put on 10 kilos in a year
* Always hungry, if I don't eat I get shaky and feel nauseas
* Irritable
* I have nightmares often

thanks for your advice

I'm a Type 2 (Non-Insulin-Dependent Diabetic) and have been since December 2004, but I remember the symptoms I had like it was yesterday. I had been craving anything sweet: Soda, chocolate, candy, anything with sugar or a high carbohydrate count. Really though, I was eating anything like a pig regardless of healthy content or lack thereof. These symptoms started really now that I think of it about 2 weeks before Christmas '04, but I wasn't really noticing it until Christmas Day because I was too weak to get out of bed... Until I was so thirsty I had no choice I had to MAKE myself get up! It got to the point where I would sit at the fridge with the door open and grab something to drink and just drink the whole container. I saw an orange juice bottle brand new with the seal on it and was craving sugar so I tore the seal opened it and tilted my head back. Next thing I knew it was 3 minutes later and the whole gallon was inside me. I was still thirsty but now the bigger problem was my bladder felt like the Hover Dam was about to bust loose!

Next thing I'm in front of the toilet peeing $3 in under a minute. I then got back my craving for sugary drinks. I swear I was tempted to drag the fridge to the toilet, but I was too F*****G tired! I finished peeing and went back to the fridge to grab another, then ran back to pee it out right away - they were coming out just as fast as they were going in. Finally I was at a point where I just had to go lay back down. I fell asleep, waking up again just after midnight and I just felt weird. I don't know at this point what's wrong, but I know there's something definitely NOT right. It couldn't have been 10 seconds later and I have a seizure! Thankfully my room mate was home and could hear me yell his name when I stopped. I yelled his name and he came in and saw seizure number 2. He called 911 and I was taken to the hospital. My parents showed up and I was incoherent so they did the talking. Turns out the Dr. took family history and when my mom said she's diabetic the Dr. checked my blood sugar (the glucose machine couldn't - too high) so he had to have the lab do it... It was in the 7 or 8 hundreds... should be 150 at most. When I came to and was still coming down off my sugar buzz, I was grumpy as hell so yeah, you very well could be diabetic. :(

I went home and changed my diet dramatically and took my meds like I should. Here it is 2011 and I'm 75 pounds less than back then and still obeying the dietary restrictions, but no longer need diabetic meds. :)

Yes, your symptoms do fit with diabetes. Classical symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, drinking a lot of fluids and fatigue. Other symptoms are getting frequent infections and poor healing.
