Question: Dear I am 44 years old and never have smoked. Recently, in the past 5 months I have been experiencing shortnes?
Dear I am 44 years old and never have smoked. Recently, in the past 5 months I have been experiencing shortness of breath which at times is accompanied by a mild pain between the left breast ribs almost near the centre of the chest and just above the left nipple. At times the paid is either with palpitations or followed by palpitations. I feel tired, dizzy and uneasy whenever this attack happens.
Hence, I checked up with a cardiologist (DM Cardio) on whose advice I took ECG, ECHO Cardiogram and TMT, which have all been found to be normal. My BP is mostly normal but at times it is around 150/90 or 160/95. Im taking BP medicine Telmirstan-40mg daily once early morning as per the Cardio’s advice. The chest paid is localized at one point and does not radiate.
My chest X-ray taken recently is normal as are the basic parameters in the blood which also I checked. I’m not a diabetic neither have I been an asthma patient.
Some ten years ago I had a similar bout of shortness of breath but without any pain. At that time I was advised by a doctor to take Deriphyllin Retard-300mg (twice a day), which had a good effect. But I stopped the medication once the problem disappeared. Now I have started taking the same medicine of same strength since last week and I find reduction in the symptoms and feel better though not fully.
What ails me? What should I do? Am I doing the right thing by taking this medicine (Deri Retard) without any doctor’s advice? Should I consult any other specialist? Any other advice. Please.

Hi.Well..I too am going through a really tough bout of chest pain, and I happen to have lupus, but my rheumatologist and I are at odds at to what the cause to my chest pain might actually be.So,you and I are kinda in the same boat...I personally think you should tell your doctor's of any and all medications your taking..including the deri retard. The medicine your currently taking(deri retard) is used for bronchial spasms, and that might be an indication that your experiencing muscle spasms within your chest area. You did say the medicine is offering you some amount of relief,so it's quite possible your having some kind of muscular skeletal pain.I feel I'm experiencing similar pain myself, and it's so bad...It gets to the point that I wake up with chills, and I have such a difficult time breathing due to the pain itself. You should consult another doctor...a second opinion is always a good idea, and in your case...is the right idea for you.I wish you all the best, and I hope you find a clear diagnoses and pain relief as well.Take care.

Yeah.. I dont want to scare you or anything.. But my old boss was misdiagnosed with what they said was pneumonia, and it turns out he had luchemia cancer and died. So if I were you, I would totally get a second opinion asap, your doctor might have misseed something. 5 months is a long time for a pain to occur.

Probably chest infection. Go to your doctOrs.
