those are two great ways to reduce it, include running into you're exercising schedule

If you're just sitting around eating junk all day, you would obviously have high triglycerides. If your doctor has prescribed medication, you need to take it until you get your numbers back under control. Eating a healthy diet and exercising will help, but there's no guarantee you won't still require medication.

You can possibly avoid medication if you increase your water and salt intake.

Whenever the body raises the so-called "bad" cholesterol, it does so to prevent another serious condition from causing great harm to the brain or other vital organ.

Contrary to what you've been led to believe, cholesterol is produced by the body to protect against embolisms caused by damaged arteries when you become dehydrated.

When you become dehydrated, the blood thickens and becomes acidic. As it passes through the lungs, it becomes even more dehydrated due to the water lost through the respiration process. This acidic blood then gets pumped through the arteries with a shearing pressure that produces cuts and abrasions to the artery walls. These cuts and abrasions can peel away and cause an embolism in the brain or other organ.

To prevent this, the body produces the so-called "bad" cholesterol to cover and protect these damaged areas until they can be repaired. Under optimal conditions, the body will never produce anything that is harmful to itself. But the medical profession doesn't understand dehydration and its role in causing health problems, and so as the dehydration goes unchecked, so does the damage it causes.
