No. Some diabetics have always pursued a healthy lifestyle, and gotten diabetes anyway. And a lot of people follow an unhealthy lifestyle, and don't develop diabetes.

What happens is that a lot of undiagnosed diabetics develop a sweet tooth, or a sweeter tooth. Some of the symptoms of uncontrolled diabetes are incessant hunger and weight loss. So they guzzle soda and eat cheesy poofs because they're hungry, but they're losing weight. When they finally get diagnosed, they and their family and friends think it's because of the poor diet. Nope, They had the diabetes first, which caused the poor diet, they just didn't know that they were diabetic.

In other words, eating a lot of sugar won't make you diabetic.

Yes. There are two types, however. Juvenile diabetes is not caused by poor diet and lack of exercise, it is simply caused by misfunctioning pancreas. But the other type of diabetes is definitely caused by inactivity and unhealthy foods, and the amount of people that have this type is increasing so fast its like an epidemic. So this type is entirely preventable and there is no excuse for getting it...

Not necessarily. My mother and I were both diagnosed at the same time. I've been overweight most of my life, but walked miles and miles every day, and taught dancing classes 5 days a week. My mother never weighed more than 120 pounds soaking wet and 9 months pregnant. She usually weighed around 100 pounds, and seldom exercised. We both had type 2, and no one else in the family has it at all.

Neither.
Type 1 is an autoimmune disorder.
Type 2 can be linked to obesity, but genetics is also part of the cause.

Yes, Obesity and inactivity are the main cause of diabetes type 2. Also sleep deprivation.Genetics also play a part.
Type 1 is auto immune .
