How can I tell my friend that I have diabetes?!
Question: How can I tell my friend that I have diabetes?
Answers:
Don't worry I have always had the same problem and still do. I wish I told people off the bat about my condition but I didn't. I'm embarrassed of it and I know I shouldn't be. I'm 16 now turning 17 and I was diagnosed with type-1 when i was around 12-13. It's hard to deal with and even now the people I hang out with sometimes have no idea. I know it's unsafe but I'm not ready to tell people. I'm scared what they'll say even though they won't care. It's a way of life for me and it's keeping me alive. I think about it all the time if I should just come out and say it. I'd tell them now if I were you and don't worry about a thing. They won't judge you for it because YOU didn't choose it.
You have to tell people. If you have a diabetic emergency then the difference between life and death is people knowing. If people don't know you are diabetic and you pass out due to low blood sugar they won't know what is wrong with you and neither will the emt's until they test you. Do not be ashamed of this.
