Does it sound like I could possibly have diabetes?!

Question: Does it sound like I could possibly have diabetes?
Here's the story. Lately I have been having to go to the bathroom more than usual, and I have been more thirsty than I usually am. My best friend has diabetes and that's how how she found out she had it. But I don't have any cuts or bruises that I can test how fast they heal. And I guess I've been a little more tired than usual. And I have no idea if I am losing weight. But the whole thirsty and bathroom thing, when you have symptoms it doesn't say what the norm is. What's the norm? My parents keep saying maybe I have diabetes. Do you think I should go and get my blood drawn? Or does it seem like nothing is wrong. I might just be thinking about my best friend so much, I feel the same? Haha, I don't know though. Does it sound like I do?

I would get tested. Those were the same symptoms I had. For diabetics, (I don't know if you know this of not so, yeah) being thirsty and needing to use the bathroom are both ways you're body is trying to get rid of the ketones it's created from burning muscles. Ketones are acids that appear when your body doesn't get the sugar it needs. And the body isn't getting the sugar it needs because the insulin isn't present to break it down. So yeah, I'd get it checked, because ketones present over a long time can result in a coma. Hope I helped!

People with diabetes frequently get very thirsty and drink a lot so they go to the bathroom a lot. But other things can cause that too. Not everyone loses weight when they have diabetes. I sure didn't. There are other indications too like blurry vision or getting really itchy dry skin. But again, other things can cause all of that.

You should see your doctor, and if your parents think you might have diabetes, why hasn't that happened yet? Tell them you 're ready to see the doctor and have this checked out now.

If you want to test it use your friends meter to do a fasting blood test. After eight hrs it should be 3.5 - 5 (abt 70 100).

See a gp for your own peace of mind.
