Other than ibuprofen or Tylenol, not really. Unfortunately you just have to wait it out. Your DDS is probably not going to prescribe any pain pills because ortho treatment usually lasts for a few years and you can't be on prescription pain pills that long. I am sorry for what you are going through! I am a dental assistant so I know all about ortho! Also, try eating soft foods that you can swallow without having to chew and experiment with liquids and decide if warm or cool feels better. If your jaw/cheeks hurt, try either an ice pack, hot pack or a mix of both alternating about every 20 min. Good luck!!
