Answers:

Heart palpitations can be caused by:
* Anemia
* Anxiety, stress, fear
* Caffeine
* Certain medications, including those used to treat thyroid disease, asthma, high blood pressure, or heart problems
* Cocaine
* Diet pills
* Exercise
* Fever
* Hyperventilation
* Low levels of oxygen in your blood
* Heart valve disease, including mitral valve prolapse
* Nicotine
* Overactive thyroid
Palpitations can be attributed to one of three main causes:
1. Hyperdynamic circulation (valvular incompetence, thyrotoxicosis, hypercapnia, pyrexia, anemia, pregnancy).
2. Sympathetic overdrive (panic disorders, hypoglycemia, hypoxia, levocetirizine antihistamines, anemia, heart failure, mitral valve prolapse).
3. Cardiac dysrhythmias (premature atrial contraction, junctional escape beat, premature ventricular contraction, atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, heart block).

Certain foods or drinks can affect heart rate, other factors are:
Activity, stress, excitement, laughter, sexual stimulation, fear, pain, some medications and supplements such as those so-called "energy drinks. Note that when most people have a doctor visit their heart rate usually goes up along with their blood pressure. Known as the "white coat syndrome."
