My Heart used to be abnormally fast, and suddenly its abnormally slow?!

Question: My Heart used to be abnormally fast, and suddenly its abnormally slow?
The human hearts healthy heart beat is 60 - 80 beats per minute. If you an athlete it can go as low as 40. If your an anorexic, it can go as low as 40.

I'm 23 years old. I'm 5'4, and 115 pounds. I do not work out. I walk to work every day, in total it adds up to walking 2 miles a day. I've been doing this for 9 months. I also work as a truck unloader. I lift, push, and pull heavy things 4 days a week. This has not made a difference in muscle, fat or weight. It also has never made a difference with my heart rate. If anything it made it worse. Every day after work, it takes till I fall asleep and wake for my heart to be calm again. It was like this up until yesterday.

My heart rate has always been in the 70's (wore a heart monitor 3 days once) and whenever I eat it shoots my heart rate up to 100 or over (tachycardia).

Yesterday after work, I sat down, and my heart rate immediately dropped to 55 beats a minute. It freaked me out and I was convinced it was making me dizzy (it wasn't though.) And again, today, I just sat down after work and my heart rate is immediately down to 55. How after 9 months having a heart rate of 77 after work, suddenly drop to 55. Should I see a doctor? Does it have to do with blood pressure issues?

All I know is I do not eat healthy at all. I eat way too much sugary junk food and fatty stuff. I'm not over weight (almost under weight) but my diet is very poor. I hope this has nothing to do with it.

That 60 to 80 beats a minute refers to a resting heart rate. This means that when you take your pulse you should be sitting down, at rest for around 10 minutes and not anxious or excited. Doing this will give you a more accurate indication of your true heart rate. Eating a meal will cause your heart rate to increase somewhat, this is normal. Your activity level will affect your heart rate as well as stress and some medications. . For these reasons in order to get a good idea of your true resting heart rate you should take several readings throughout the day. Discard the highest and lowest readings and average the rest. This will give you an better idea of what your resting heart rate normally is. With your level of activity, your present weight, the walking and then relatively physical nature of your work, it is not surprising your pulse goes to 55 when you are at rest. As long as you are feeling no symptoms related to a heart condition you are probably ok. This means feeling faint or passing out, chest pain, dizziness or feeling weak and fatigued or short of breath. If you feel any of these symptoms then you may want to have a checkup. As far as eating, even someone of your weight should still watch what they eat as far as foods that contain fats and sugar. Your diet may not have anything to do with it but it sure can contribute to a heart condition..
