Question: I am 22 year old, female, diagnosed with diabetes for 7 years. How will it effect during pregnancy?
Answers:

Your blood sugars will go up and down depending on which trimester you are in.
To keep yourself and baby healthy, a pregnancy should ALWAYS be planned.
Your A1C should be below 7 before even contemplating conceiving.
You will need close observation by your obstetrician and endocrinologist.
Saying this, if your sugars are A1 during the nine months, you will have a healthy baby like I have.
It does take some effort but is soooo worth it.
Lots of luck

Diabetes MIGHT have some VERY serious effects on your pregnancy. Diabetes can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, and birth defects.

it is VERY important that you keep your blood sugar under EXCELLENT control during your pregnancy. This will take MUCH more effort on your part, as you need to gain weight, but that IS going to up your blood sugars. It is very possible that you will need to take MORE insulin than normal. This is OK -- insulin WILL NOT hurt your baby!

You need to check to see how experienced your doctor is with handling diabetic mothers, and possibly ask to be referred to another doctor who is more experienced.

Between your efforts and a really good doctor, everything WILL turn out just fine.

you may have a big baby and chances of a caserian section. If your diabetes is not controlled you can have increased chances of urinarytract infection.I think you are already on insulin but if you are not taking better switch over to insulin. With ante natal checkups you should not have any difficulty

Do not worry mam as '"WORRIES increases ur DIABETES"'..See during pregnancy u have to be on INSULIN injections that too 3-4 per day..I know u will be tensed by this but reserch has shown & proved that MORE no. of INSULIN injections per day the BETTER is the prognosis for ur child as well as 4 urself...
Then after that u can continue with ur just 1-2 INSULINinjections per day...plz do reply..
