How can have high cholesterol?!

Question: How can have high cholesterol?
I had blood tests on monday to test for diabetes after glucose was found in my urine after being admitted to hospital with a severe eczema infection. I really thought i was likely to have it as i have had symptoms such as frequent urination, tiredness weight loss etc for the past few years.

I just got my results back and no diabetes-so that great news but instead they said my cholestorol was very high and needed to be retested in a few weeks. This may sound nieve but i always thought cholestoral was linked with much older people or people with poor diets etc.

I a 20 years old, i am 5ft 10" and 10 stone 9 pounds in weight. i am not overweight and my diet is very healthy consisting of plenty of fruit, vegetables and i eat mainly carbohydrates (potatos pasta and cereals with vegetables and i mainly eat fish for my meat.

So what causes high cholestoral? how could i have it?

Thank you in advance

This is also inherited. Your doctor should also be testing the type of high cholesterol you have. Whether you need cholesterol lowering medicine, or not, depends upon this test. Immediately you should eliminate obvious sources of excess cholesterol, such at fatty meats and excess amounts of butter. You need not eliminate these, just limit them.

Maybe you do have diabetes, not sure. Diabetics do often have cholesterol problems.

The liver manufactures a certain amount of cholesterol on its own, regardless of what you eat.

Eat cheerios and see if you get bttr. If it dosn't work go to doc!
