Question: What are some things i could do to stop my coughing?
Answers:

Bit sparse on the medical history. Your age, duration of symptoms, past medical history, especially any other respiratory history, smoking history, medication history and family history would all be helpful.

I assume that this is not an acute issue with fever and toxicity. Most coughs are viral or post viral with bronchial hyper-reactivity and as such are self limiting. After 3 weeks a chest X ray is indicated to exclude any significant pathology. If they persist beyond 4 weeks it may be worth considering inhaled steroids as a membrane stabiliser.

There is no such thing as a useful cough mixture and their use is thankfully continuing to decline with most, in the UK at least, beginning to lose their licences at least for those under 12 years.

GP for more years than I care to remember

You have to find out why you're coughing in the first place. Anything you take to try to suppress the cough is just fighting the symptoms and not the cause. It could be serious or it could just be allergies but you should see a doctor to see if it's something serious first.

you can take cough medicine, cough drops, or swallow a teaspoon of honey (honey coats the throat)
