You mean ritalin. And yes, it has a TON of side effects. Ritalin is not an amphetamine, but it works like one. It's a stimulant. Side effects than you can notice, especially if the dose is too strong for you, are shaking, dizziness, anxiety, increased concentration (sometimes to the point of copying a textbook), obsessing, panic attacks, decreased appetite, nervous ticks (nail biting, scalp picking, ect), lack of sleep, and A LOT OF ENERGY.

Though it is given to people with ADHD who are hyperactive, it does not actually calm you down. What it does is it make you very alert and energetic, but very balanced and controlled.

Sherley Domingos,
Briefly – YES! It also has adverse drug reactions with many drugs, which, if this question relates to you, you would be advised to consult your doctor or pharmacist with a list of ALL medications that you are taking. Ritalin – methylphenidate - is a drug commonly prescribed by many doctors to treat patients with ADHD symptoms. However, Ritalin has also been used illegally for many years and it has been proven to be addictive and harmful to some extent. Whilst the drug can help to manage ADHD symptoms, it is not without side effects. There are serious and common side effects associated with the use of Ritalin. Stop taking Ritalin and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as - fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeats; feeling like you might pass out; fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; aggression, restlessness, hallucinations, unusual behaviour, or motor tics (muscle twitches); easy bruising, purple spots on your skin; or dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats, seizure). Less serious Ritalin side effects may include - stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite; vision problems, dizziness, mild headache; sweating, mild skin rash; numbness, tingling, or cold feeling in your hands or feet; nervous feeling, sleep problems (insomnia); or weight loss. There may be other side effects that are not mentioned above.
