Please help! 17, female! Recently bad acne!?!

Question: Please help! 17, female! Recently bad acne!?
I am female and 17 and a half years old.

I have actually never had acne in my life before until recently like I started getting some last year, a little more in January and now it's February and it's bad! The WORST ever it has been!!! Like seriously I used to be able to count that I had 1 spot 5 spots, now There is too many to count! Lots! Over 20!

Lots of spots on my forehead, chin, cheeks, side of my face.

I have not been using anything on them as I don't know what to use on them.

I have never been to a dermatologist before as there is none where I live, I cannot go to doctors as you have to have a serious condition to go there and appointments are hard to get. There is a Chinese herbal place near me that does medicines perhaps for acne.

I am really down and low, I have no confidence. This is giving me less confidence, I don't wear foundation at all as it makes it look probably worse. The only problem I have is with it in school.

My questions:

? HOW can I get rid of it?
? What products can I use?

Any other additional comments appreciated.

I live in UK so name products like clearisil? Neutragena? Are they good?

You could try one of the many over the counter cleanser/degreasers, most are based on peroxide, Panoxyl is a typical example. If this fails the next step is to see your GP for topical or oral antibiotics. Avoid tetracycline and oxytetracyline as they are awkward to take and not very effective, minocycline or lymecycline are better.

GP for more years than I care to remember

There was an article in the Daily Mail on Tuesday 15th February. It was written by a doctors son who had been unable to resolve his acne problem, apparently his brothers also had acne. Apparently there is a new OXY product which contains seaweed and this helped tremendously.

It could be a hormonal thing - even at 17 your body will still be going through some changes.

Spots tend to be caused by oily skin so using products specially created for this should help. Products like Witch tend to be good for spot prone skin, whilst being gentle enough to not irritate.

If you don't see a result with products within a month, then it might be worth going to the doctor as there are pills or creams they can give you to help it settle down.

Also, try to avoid touching your face. Alot of bacteria can be introduced this way and cause even more spots.

I have a similar issue.

Neither worry nor panic. Read this

From sweet sixteen to fabulous forty, acne or blemish is one very frequent problem faced by people of both the sex. A normal, growing blemish-free skin from impurities is desired by everyone. It enhances the personality of an individual and makes him/her feel more confident and presentable. When we notice red boils or break-outs on our face or any other part of our skin we immediately react by squeezing them or breaking them. This leads to either expansion or patches or marks and sometimes causes infection too. Otherwise we tend to consult the dermatologist or use chemical rich creams which frequently pose unwanted effects.

Vitamins A & B are very important for the health of your skin. Vitamin A deficiency can cause acne or blemish etc. Vitamin A will strengthen your skin. Vitamin B is great for acne. The only Vitamin that has an anti-inflammatory effect is Vitamin C. It will help with healing and protect your immune system. A study conducted at Duke University provides evidence that Zinc is an important antioxidant supporting healthy skin. Among the findings: Zinc protects against UV radiation, enhances wound healing, contribute to immune and neuropsychiatric functions, and decrease the relative risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. So, in addition to the antioxidant benefits Zinc offers to our skin, zinc is also important for the proper functioning of the immune system.

As all these Vitamins are naturally and abundantly available in Stevia, your body absorbs them easily without fighting with any toxins like it does when consuming or applying chemically treated Vitamins, giving your more natural, safe, effective and quicker results. Please refer our ‘About Stevia’ page for nutritional breakdown of Stevia.

Stevia has shown its magically healing quality pertaining to various skin problems like Pimples, Blemishes, Acne, Seborrhea, Dermatitis and Eczema. Its proven that after several applications of Stevia on brown age spots and warts resulted in diminishing and in most instances eliminating them.

When you notice pimple or blemish on your face or any part of your skin, simply apply Pure Stevia leaf powder mixed with water (and/or lemon juice if you can but not compulsory) on the pimple or blemish and leave it for 30 to 60 minutes every day/night. In most instances the pimple or blemish disappear more rapidly. Any stains of Stevia will leave in wash.
Organic Stevia leaf powder is better. There are many websites who sell them. If you want to buy it for cheap and safe, I think ebay is the best.

Try using Proactive. It works very effectively. You order it and it lasts about 30 days, for me more. Also, cut down your caffeine intake. Soda and coffee have loads of caffeine which can cause acne. Deep fried foods can do the same. Try a healthier diet, and drink a lot of water. This can help cleanse. Vitamin E might also help. Also, I've heard that some people break out more if they eat fruit with high acidity like orange (Which includes orange juice.) Hope this helps.

Also, if you want to cover up the acne for school, but don't want to clog the pores you may want to try some cover-up that also heals blemishes. There is Neutrogena SkinClearing Blemish Concealer and Almay Clear Complexion Powder.
