What could be causing my extreme tiredness?!

Question: What could be causing my extreme tiredness?
Every night after I eat dinner I get extremely tired. I usually go to lay down for a few minutes and end up falling asleep with the light on and my clothes on and my phone uncharged, etc. My body feels like its been literally drained of energy. I end up waking up at 3 in the morning to get ready for bed.

I know its not a sleep problem because I get plenty of sleep-- I always get around 8 hours.

I don't do any exhausting activities during the day but I do exercise for 1 hour every other day.

What could be causing my extreme exhaustion? I was thinking that it might be hypoglycemia.

What makes you feel tired after eating? It is actually a process that takes place in your body and results into the condition. Feeling tired after eating is usual when you consume food stuffs that have large volumes of sugar and flour in them such as bakery or sweet food items. Presence of excess sugar in your body results into increase in the blood sugar level. This further leads the pancreas to produce more insulin and release it into the blood stream of your body. Excess secretion of insulin, results into a substance called tryptophan to move into the brain. Tryptophan is a protein building block and which on reaching the brain gets transformed into serotonin. It is finally due to serotonin, that you feel tired after eating.

The main concern over here is alterations in the diet. The most important reason behind feeling tired after eating is heavy foods containing high amounts of flour and sugar in them. So avoid eating them! Try out these better options.
Opt for some healthier and lighter foods such as green salads, fish, chicken and nuts and vegetables. These foods are easy to digest and also you would not get tired after eating these foods, as your body will be able to generate a lot of energy, no matter how much you work!
Avoid sitting at your workplace immediately after eating, this will result in sleepiness as your body will not be able to digest the food that you have eaten. Instead, go on for a short walk in the surroundings which will help to digest food properly and also will refresh you. With this you can get back to your work with loads of energy and enthusiasm.
Prefer having some lemon juice to avoid fatigue and indigestion of food.
However busy you are in the afternoon time, keep fast foods away from your afternoon diet. These are not at all healthy options to maintain your energy. Instead fat consumption will worsen the situation and you will feel more drained.

If you continue feeling this exhaustion have your blood sugar levels tested as you could also be spiking and crashing sugar levels within a short amount of time. See your doctor if these symptoms continue as you need to change your diet and lifestyle in order to get healthy.

Hope this helps.

No, that's not a typical description of hypoglycemia.
You may simply be in a bad habit. Stop allowing yourself to fall asleep that early. Take a walk outside then charge your phone, take a warm shower, and get ready for bed. Don't allow yourself to fall asleep with your clothes on etc. You are not getting restful sleep because you are not sleeping soundly, then getting up in the wee hours of the morning to really get ready to sleep. You need 8 hours uninterrupted sleep.
