Hmm. I saw the movie, which btw is a must see for everyone. But I don't recall a disease. I assume it's Escherichia coli from the intestinal tract of the animal. If the animal's body isn't cut correctly, the intestinal contents spill out and contaminate the meat.
They know if they contaminated the meat. Funny how it gets to the store.

It's the dollar almighty companies pray to.

*edit* Yes, the child died because he ingested meat tainted with Escherichia coli. But it's not a disease. It's a bacteria found in the lower intestinal tracts of warm blooded animals.
