If this is an old mask, the canisters are no good asbestos or not. So either buy new ones or put the mask on a shelf as a display piece. You could take the canister to an asbestos lab for testing, but they have to break it open. If this is a foreign make, there are no records that will 100% tell you the contents.
generally asbestos is an insulator, I wouldn't worry about it too much. As a filter media asbestos makes no sense, I don't see why any would be in the rubber either. If there is any the fibers should be contained otherwise what 's the point of having the filter? I've breathed in lots of asbestos and I'm still fine.
