Will I outgrow my Juvenile Arthritis?!
Question: Will I outgrow my Juvenile Arthritis?
Answers:
Hey, I can't say anything about JRA, but I contracted LYME when I was 13, and wasn't treated until I was 15. I spent on average 3 mo. At a time with a swollen knee, but thenworst time was when the swelling compressed the nerve and I lost feeling in my foot for over a year. The pain/ swelling so migrated from joint to joint - wrist/elbow/knee. The doctor said I'd never be able to run normally. Shows you what they know. Occaisionally I can feel it when it's going to rain, but other than that I'm fine.
I can't say you'll swim professionally, but you should be able to swim for exercise, stress reduction, stretching of your limbs, etc.
Also, have you talked with your parents about switching your medicine if you are missing a lot of school? Or is it an option to get a tutor to help keep you caghr up when in the hospital? Or whatnabout a membership to the YMCA, where you could swim just for exercise? View all your options before you get depressed. Life is good, and you are young. Things will get better for you.
