Bug going around, hoarse voice?!

Question: Bug going around, hoarse voice?
It started out as nasal congestion so I assumed it was just my allergies. I live in Tampa and the pollen count has been very high lately. The third day I had pain in my lungs and the fourth day I got a hoarse voice. I'm now on day 3 of the hoarseness. I work in retail and there have been at least 15 people, as well family friends who I've only spoken with over the phone, that have said they had the exact same symptoms but didn't know what caused it. I've noticed today that my ear canal has that "itchy feeling." Still have the nasal congestion and runny nose. I don't feel sick, I do have most of my energy, but I can tell it is starting to take its toll on me.

I'm looking for opinions or experiences from people that have (without a doubt) had laryngitis, sinusitis, severe allergies with similar symptoms, etc. I'm not looking for someone to tell me to go see a doctor.
If that was possible I would have gone by now :0)

I just got over some gnarly cold sinus infection thing ( exactly like you described) ... i live an hour north of Tampa in Citrus county. The pollen is HORRIBLE and there is a bug going around because everyone is sick.
I had the exact same symptoms and my throat still itches. I got it on Friday and somehow got rid of it by yesterday ... my throat still itches today and my hoarseness is going away as well. Allergies will cause itching ... a cold doesn't. Both a cold and allergies can cause hoarseness. You may have gotten over the bug but your allergies are bothering your throat. With the pollen count being above 10 ( extremely high) people who don't have allergies or are not affected by them are getting allergies.... like me :]

To get rid of the hoarseness
-try taking Vitamin C ( to boost the immune system, encase its a cold/flu ),
-hot water with lemon and honey,
-sore throat lozenges,
-gargled with hot(not too hot) water and salt,
-drink warm honey and cinnamon. its kinda gross, but it works SO good.
-squeeze as much lemon juice as you can into a pot of water, bring the water to a boil, as soon as it's boiling, take it off the stove, wait until it's cool enough to hold your face over, breathe in the steam
-don't talk :]

When you get completely over your illness ( congestion is gone and no runny nose ) and after a day or two of no cold symptoms and you still have hoarseness go get an anti histamine and see if that helps.
