There is no data that I am aware of.
It seems unlikely that these products would be a cancer risk in the eyes.

I am non-practicing hairdresser and not once did I ever hear from any source that shampoo or conditioner can cause cancer. Now it is another story with Hair Dye, Hair Straighteners, Perms, Aerosol Hair Spray, and Manicurist Products. There has not been direct link to these items, however for years they were under-suspicion that being exposed over long period of time could have a greater possibility of developing cancer. That is why many hairdresser stop doing certain services or some even wear mask to avoid the flumes. Is there something you can put over your eyes when you shampoo like small swimmers goggles or maybe the pharmacy has something to protect your eyes like a waterproof patches. I think the worse part is the redness and stinging. Whatever you do, do not use baby shampoo it is actually very drying for your hair..

I doubt it'll lead to cancer or anything like that, but you can damage your eyes. Try keeping your eyes shut while your washing your hair or face for the entire time you're doing it. You could burn your corneas or damage your eyesight. Shampoos and soaps are loaded with chemicals that should never come in contact with your eyes.
