Found a lump in my neck, slightly worried?!

Question: Found a lump in my neck, slightly worried?
Ok so i originally posted about a small pea sized lump I found in me neck, kinda near the glands area under my jaw, anyway I had an ear Infection previous to finding this, the infection has gone and the lumps still here. When i was diagnosed with the ear infection i asked the doctor to check the lump, he said just leave it its nothing to worry about, after i finnished the antiotics i had my ears surringed and asked the nurse to check it, she advised to have another doctor check it over just to be on the safe side and to put my mind at rest. I had another doctor look at it, only to be told that its nothing to worry about. I just keep feeling it might be something more than just a lumo thats nothing to worry about but at the same time im a huge worrier im only 24 and find that worries of my health are taking over my time lately! If ive been told by 2 doctors and a nurse its nothing to worry about should I take there word for it, and if so, does anyone have any advice on stopping being an all time worrier! Thanks everyone for reading this

Sounds like you have a swollen lymph node.

This is a common reaction of an immune system fighting an infection (in this case your ear infection).

Some people find the swelling goes away quickly once the infection clears. Other people it can take months.

The more you poke, prod and generally fiddle with it, the longer it will take.

If you chose to worry about this, that is up to you but it is a waste of time and energy.

Life is too short to waste it worrying about nothing, just ask anyone who has had a brush with a life threatening disease like cancer.

See your doctor again or another if you wish and explain in full your fears, if you get lost for words when at the doctors, write them down. Just make him or her know that you need your minds putting at rest. Your fears are natural you are just finding it hard to accept your doctors verdict. This can happen and any good doctor would find this acceptable and talk it through with you.
Good luck

Im a medical worrier myself, i research everything that happens to me,
its not bad to be like that,

if the lump is painless then you seek medical attention immediately,
but if it was painfull when you touch it then it is probably just a pimple under the skin,

To me it sounds like it may a calcium deposit, especially if it is hard and not going away. If two doctors looked at it and they were not worried that maybe all that it is. I had a lump near my ankle that really hurt the size of a very large marshmallow. I was determine something was really wrong because it was getting bigger too. They did surgery on it and found NOTHING. Right after the surgery and for about six months or so it did not hurt and there was only a small lump. Now about two years later hurts again and the lump is bigger but they cannot do anything about it. The doctors told me before I had surgery if the lump was there for years and kept getting bigger if it was cancer I probably would have died years ago. So if your lump gets bigger or changes in any way or if you develop another then get it checked immediately. For now just take it easy, you do not want to have an unnecessary procedure or operation if you don't need to (not fun)
