What migraine prevention drug can be used on an asthmatic person?!

Question: What migraine prevention drug can be used on an asthmatic person?
Beta-blockers are not an option when you are asthmatic So what medication is then given to prevent migraines? My doctor has said he will be consulting someone about it but I would like to know what kind of options will be available so that I don't have to think on the spot when it comes to deciding.

Answers:

There are a dozen or more options that can be used in asthmatics. My first choice would be pitzotifen,(Sanomigran,) clonidine, carbamazepine and amitriptylline would also all be acceptable options.

In terms of preventing migraines, I see no contra-indication with asthma for pizotifen, clonidine or methysergide.
Pizotifen is considerably cheaper than the other two so I would expect you to be prescribed that (on the NHS).
The other option is to treat migraines when they start - such as Migraleve or sumatriptin. Both are likely options for NHS prescribers due to their price and both are suitable for asthmatics (that I can see but I don't know your personal history).
Migraleve is a combination of paracetamol, codeine and a drug called buclizine.

Mm... It maybe help. http://giftchoice.info/34123/beta-blocker
