If you had the complete series (which is way more than just two shots the first time you receive them) you would only need two shots (one on day zero and one on day 3) if you were bitten again. But only if actually necessary.
What kind of animal? If dog, cat, or ferret, and available for observation....a 10 day quarantine or secure observation period first. If they stay healthy...you don't need any shots at all.
