You shouldn't have to "go under" for hemorrhoid treatments; or should I say that should be your LAST option. I've had three experiences with major roids, this was the outcome.
First - lanced = Not a good experience at all, VERY painful
Second - Bands, not painful but you still loose all aspects of self respect on all fours, but it did work for "THOSE roids)
Last, "butt" not least and most important, I had one more episode. The Dr. told me that one in 3 people suffer from this, it's due to our diet. I asked for more bands and he said no, I was to young and it could cause later scar tissue which wasn't good. He told me to do the Metamucil thing, (fiber in water) and I just knew I wasn't going to follow through with that, so I went to Walmart and got their generic fiber pills, the directions say one thing, I really never looked at them, only for the first week I took two, twice a day, after that I take two per day every day, they are cheap, they work and I've not had a problem in 5 years. My suggestion before you spend all your money on co-pay's and insurance, etc, try what I'm saying. the only snag would be if you have developed blood clots, then I'd get the bands, takes about 5 minutes and that's it; it's like castrating a bull with rubberbands. I have every bit of experience in this matter, try the fiber before you opt for surgery, cheaper, longer lasting and easy. No need for the name brand, Generic pills work just fine.

You should check in with a medical site or your own doctor for better information on such a topic - I'd also hope that that would be a last resort, as there are so many other ways to aid in healing hemorrhoids.
