Chemo wouldn't be given for a benign tumor, nor do they spread. It really doesn't have a time frame in which to die. Could be days or months... A friend of my daughter, whom she nannies for, has been fighting cancer for 3 years and chemo really never worked on him. He was recently put in the hospital with a terminal status, 2 hours or 2 days. Has been cured of pneumonia twice and was finally sent back home with hospice care. That was 3 weeks ago and he's still home.

well it really depends. If it is a malignancy, could be only a few months, if the tumor is benign, could take years. In some cancers, like leukemia, with acute type you have a few months to a year, with chronic leukemia you can have many years until the leukemia turns into an acute form. It also depends on the age. When chemotherapy doesn't work, there are a few other options, but the patient usually dies.

Depends on the cancer. Different cancers respond to different treatments and at different stages. Sometimes when a cancer is resected (taken out), the oncologist will give the patient chemo to prevent recurrence. If the patient has cancer and is given chemo before any kind of surgery and it doesn't work, the oncologist may go ahead and try to resect the tumor (if it is resectable) and the prognosis could be good. Worst case scenario, chemo didn't work, the tumor is unresectable and radiation is not an option: mortality could be a few days to a few months and in rare cases, longer.
