My gums kind of swell when I eat apples. Some kind of allergic reaction.?!

Question: My gums kind of swell when I eat apples. Some kind of allergic reaction.?
Okay, I'm not the kind of guy who eats fruit often. I know it is good and all that but when I eat apples, my gums swell and lip and mouth gets this weird feeling. It's the only fruit that does this. I also have a similar problem to almonds, only almonds. I don't have a nut allergy, I can hack peanuts. People can't really be allergic to fruit though. Could it be something to do with how the stuff is preserved? I hear a lot of fruits get waxed and have to be washed 'well' before being eaten.

Answers:

It is only raw apples, isn't it? What you have is actually called oral allergy syndrome. It is related to hay fever. Are you allergic to birch tree pollen? Do you ever get hay fever in the spring?

No, mine do as well. You probably have sensitive gums and teeth like me and the coarse consistency of the apple irritates your gums.

talk to a doctor.
