Question: My parents never listen to me about the dangers of carbon monoxide. Help?

We live in a house that has a garage attached to it. Everyday my parents warm up their vehicles inside, and all that exhaust smoke builds in the garage. I always tell them to back their vehicles up into the driveway, but they never listen. I always tell them about the dangers of carbon monoxide, and they still don't listen. I always feel light headed in the house and I always have a runny nose. My sister has the same symptoms as I do. I don't know what to do anymore. I honestly feel like I'm being poisoned in my own house. What should I do?

Not that I want to give anyone ideas because there tend to be a lot of suicidal people here, but that is a way that people do commit suicide. It can and does kill people when they start their car in the garage and inhale fumes. I will leave you a link to a website with facts on the dangers to breathing carbon monoxide and hopefully you can show them some of these facts and get them to see the light of day then. Good luck and I hope they change not only for you and your sister but for their own sake as well - it's bad for all of you.

You are correct. Your parents are playing Russian roulette with this practice. Since they do not listen, the next best solution is to purchase a carbon monoxide detector for the home.
