Candida is opportunistic in nature and, given the right conditions, such as even a small amount of simple sugars to feed on, it will proliferate wildly unless the body's immune system and "friendly bacteria" are sufficient to keep it in check.

It thrives in moist conditions and can eventually spread to all organs of the body. Those with systemic Candida may notice that damp weather exacerbates their symptoms, particularly respiratory and joint problems.
