There's been plenty of side effects reported, even death. Unless your friend has alzheimer's or parkinson's, he's not going to be getting the patch.

There is a risk of side effects with this medication and interactions with a wide variety of prescribed and over-the-counter medications.

This medication should only be used under medical supervision on Dr's prescription and must be introduced to the system slowly (starting with a low dose that then increases).

It may be that your friend believes he has very early Alzheimers and so believes it will help. He needs to talk to his Dr who will be able to give him a prescription if it is likely to assist and not cause any interactions.
