Hiv question on transmission?!

Question: Hiv question on transmission?
I'm literally scaring myself to death. I'm a pharmacy technician and the other day at work I got a cut on my finger earlier in the morning it bled and I put a band aid over it. it was fine but the skin was raw. I still had it covered.a Guy came in to pick up his HIV meds and he paid in quarters I tried not to touch him directly with my hand that had the cut. so I took the change with my right and counted it out. could the germs fron the hiv virus be carried on the coins? What are the chances that I could be infected with HIV.I'm seriously freaking out. THANKS!!

you may want to consider going back to school, because obviously your medical knowledge is lacking. Try ITT tech.

i'm pretty sure you're ok.
as long as you had a band aid over the cut and you washed your hands thoroughly, you should be fine.

Stephanie,
Briefly, NIL! I shall explain - HIV transmission occurs when blood, semen, vaginal fluids or breast milk from an HIV-positive person enters the body of an HIV-negative person. HIV can enter the body through a vein, the lining of the anus or rectum, the lining of the vagina and/or cervix, the opening of the penis, the mouth, or cuts and sores. HIV cannot be spread through casual or everyday contact, such as shaking hands or hugging. The virus does not survive well outside the body, and therefore cannot be transmitted by touching things that HIV-positive people have touched. Sweat, saliva, tears, vomit, faeces, and urine do contain small amounts of HIV, but it is very unlikely that HIV can be transmitted as a result of direct contact with these fluids.
