Are there any alternative treatments for Keratosis Pilaris?!

Question: Are there any alternative treatments for Keratosis Pilaris?
I visited the dermatologist about my visible and swollen hair follicles on my legs and upper arms. They don't hurt at all but they are really hideous. He said I have a condition called Keratosis Pilaris and that its quite common but mine are particularly bad (They usually appear as pimples on the back of the upper arms and as visible hair follicles on the lower legs). He said there's nothing he can really do for me and that its mainly down to genetics which made me a bit sad really :(
I know this condition is quite common so if there are others out there with the same problem that have any tips on reducing the appearance of the arm pimples or leg follicles I would be really grateful to hear them. Cheers so much!

I feel your pain. I had this problem quite badly when I was younger and I seemed to have mostly outgrown it (i'm in my mid-20's now).

I've read that lotions containing alpha-hydoxy acids can help as they exfoliate the skin. I tried many of these and you really have to be consistant with it--I never saw that much of a difference, unfortunately. Sometimes I would exfoliate the heck out of my skin trying to treat the problem but over the years I've learned that keeping my skin deeply moisturized and using a good moisturizing bodywash is what helped me the most.

One lotion that I found has made my skin look pretty good is Jergens Ultra Healing. I still have some bumps but they seem to get a little better when I use this lotion. I also love Dove bar soap for sensitive skin. Trust me I have tried so much stuff and these two things are cheap and I really like them.
