A good diet is generally important, especially if you're mobility is impaired and weight gain can be an issue. Extra stress on musclues is not recommend.

A good diet will not stop the course of muscular dystrophy but, as in anyone, staying healthy may increase quality of life.

Various things are being suggested as potential treatments for MD, such as green tea, coenzyme Q10 and creatine, but research so far has been mixed, with little success. Best advice - stick to a healthy diet as far as possible.

The most important thing is to increase the water intake to at least 2 quarts of water per day to bring your muscle enzymes down to normal. You should also use unprocessed sea salt liberally on your food and when you drink the water (1/8 tsp of salt per 16 oz of water).
